Focus on Alexandra's five year career with CWT

Joining CWT as an administrator five years ago, Alexandra has proved that aiming high will pay off...

“Working at CWT is like being in a family. I feel a real part of the Business Development team and that my work is valued. The support I get makes me believe there is no limit to what I can achieve here”

In one sentence, I would describe my job as:

Diverse; no two days are ever the same.

The first thing I do when I get into work is:

The first thing I do when I get to my desk is check my emails as you just never know when something urgent might have come up since the previous evening. I also get a lot of industry alerts and in my position it is crucial for me to have my finger on the pulse.

The best thing about working at Carlson Wagonlit Travel:

The people, without a doubt. It’s a pretty social place to work, there’s always something going on. My colleagues in the Business Development team have been extremely supportive and even though we are based all around the UK and Ireland we know we can rely on one another.

Top 3 highlights at Carlson Wagonlit Travel so far:

1. Joining the business development team. After five years with CWT and several promotions, this one meant the most to me

2. Being nominated for a CWT High flyer award by my manager for serving the account I looked after to such a high standard

3. Winning new business. It’s such a buzz when you know you’ve been responsible for bringing in valuable accounts to the company

Most challenging aspect of my job:

Managing my workload. I am very client focused and always deliver on whatever I have promised. It can be a lot of pressure at times but the sense of satisfaction when you know a client is happy with what you’ve done is really rewarding.

My path to success goes something like this:

Advanced Leisure and Tourism GNVQ > Joined CWT Leeds branch as Admin Support  > Promoted to Business Travel Consultant a year later > passed Air levels 1&2 > Senior Business Travel Consultant > Lead Agent > Business Development Executive

What I’ve learnt and how I’ve developed:

  • Customer relationships are key to winning new business, even if it takes a while to sign that contract
  • No man (or woman) is an island! It’s important to get to know colleagues in other departments, as well as your own. You never know when you’ll need them.

My favourite/memorable travel destination:

Moon Palace, Mexico. This place is heaven! Red hot, white sandy beaches, swimming with dolphins, and eating sumptuous food. Utter paradise!

When I’m not working at Carlson Wagonlit Travel, I like:

Shopping and spending time with my boyfriend walking our pug puppy Buddy.

If you’re thinking of working at Carlson Wagonlit Travel, I’d say:

Don't hesitate! The people are fantastic and there are lots of opportunities to learn and develop.

“Alex is a delight to work with, she is client focused, a team player who is conscientious and always willing to get stuck in to every situation that is presented to her.  She does this with a fantastic smile on her face and excels at whatever she is doing.”
