Jim headed up Account Management in Northern Europe for Carlson Wagonlit Travel from 1997 to 1999, prior to taking up the position of Vice President UK.
In his position as chief operating officer,Europe , Middle East and Africa , Richard Lovell has overall responsibility for Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) in the region. He is also responsible for the CWT hotel organization on a global basis. Richard Lovell reports to Hubert Joly, president and chief executive officer, Worldwide, and is a member of the Executive Team.
Mr. Lovell was previously executive vice president, CWT Europe, Middle East and Africa , in charge of geographical zones and operations.
Mr. Lovell has held various leading management positions with the company since the early 90s. He was managing director of the Pickfords Travel Group, responsible for both leisure and business travel when this British travel group was purchased by Wagons-lits, in 1991. He then took over the position of managing director for Wagonlit Travel , United Kingdom , and in 1992 became vice president for Northern Europe . In 1994, after the union between Carlson Travel Network and Wagonlit Travel, Lovell's role expanded to include responsibility for all CWT activities in Northern Europe .
A British citizen, Richard Lovell is the former president of the Institute of Travel & Tourism in the United Kingdom and currently serves as chairman of the Guild of Business Travel Agents in the United Kingdom .
