Winners of the 2012 Business Travel Journalism Awards Announced

Journalists at The Independent, BBC and Conference & Incentive Travel among those honoured

LONDON, November 16, 2012 - The winners of the 2012 Business Travel Journalism Awards were announced last night during a sparkling awards dinner at The May Fair Hotel. Journalists across consumer, meetings & events and business travel titles were recognised for their quality media coverage of business travel and meetings & events topics.

Dominic Ponsford, editor of Press Gazette, chaired the judging panel of business travel and meetings managers, industry experts, and journalists, including former editors of the Daily Mirror and Sunday Correspondent, for the fourth year.

Ponsford commented: “The quality of entries increases year after year. Of all the journalism industry awards I’m involved in, these are unique, and are among the best and most comprehensively judged.”

During the event, journalists were able to cast their vote for the peer most deserving of the accolade, Journalists’ Business Travel Journalist of the Year, won by Gill Upton of The Business Travel Magazine.

The awards, now in their ninth year and organised and promoted by Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT), are a celebration of the achievements of individual journalists and designers. The winners will be treated to a lunch at the Dorchester, courtesy of CWT and the sponsors of the awards: DoubleTree by Hilton, Finnair, Flybe, Gulf Air, Heathrow Airport, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, Guoman Thistle, Travelport, United Airlines and Air Canada, and CWT Safety & Security powered by iJET.
