Achieving a cost-effective and efficient travel programme
Wesco Aircraft Europe was looking to implement a travel management company to reduce travel costs and streamline processes.

What was the project?
Jo Mellor, Director of Supply Chain at Wesco, chose CWT to help them:
- Implement a consistent Service Level Agreement (SLA).
- Create a single travel policy.
- Report on (and track) all travel throughout their four European locations.
- Reduce traveller spend on company cards by implementing an online booking tool (OBT).
What did the CWT team do?
CWT’s Andrew Dalton was appointed as Wesco’s dedicated programme manager. Andrew worked with Jo to:
- Construct a bespoke travel policy to help Wesco drive savings through programme compliance.
- Implement an OBT, pre-loading all of Wesco’s preferred hotels to enable instant confirmations on bookings.
- Provide Wesco travellers and bookers with access to CWT Fares and CWT Value Rates – specially-negotiated air fares and hotel rates – via online and offline channels.
- Set up traveller profiles in a customised CWT Portal site, a single platform through which traveller data, the latest travel information, and access to online booking is provided.
- Give key employees across Europe access to CWT’s reporting tool, enabling them to monitor overall spend, compliance and missed savings.
What was the outcome?
“Working with CWT allowed us to identify lower ‘per person, per night’ rates at Wesco preferred hotels,” said Jo. “For instance, at one frequently-used hotel, Wesco secured a special rate of £65 and gained access to a CWT Value Rate of £60; an improvement on the previous rate of £73 per person, per night.”
Wesco also achieved a 57% online adoption rate after just two months of using their OBT, and 2% missed savings. CO2 emission monitoring was established, as well as traveller tracking capabilities, while daily visibility on bookings enabled Wesco to monitor travel policy compliance.
